Two new strands of work are now underway which seek to guide the successful evolution and delivery of new projects along the Low Line which aims to create a green and welcoming corridor for people and nature along the rail viaduct linking Bermondsey, London Bridge and Bankside.

Architects PDP London, working with local firms Macfarlane and Associates, Greengage and Studio 4215 are developing the Low Line Commons – looking at how the Low Line can be sensitively planned and unlocked to support a corridor for wildlife as well as people.

In parallel to this, transport consultants Urban Movement are exploring how the Low Line can best support active travel – providing a connected, comfortable and accessible route linking communities and commerce along its length

Both consultant teams are in the early stages of understanding the opportunities and constraints of realizing the ambition of the Low Line. The need for more space for people to walk has never been more important in the context of adapting neighbourhoods to support more active travel including walking.
